The official death toll from super typhoon “Yolanda” (international name: Haiyan) has risen to 6,109, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Sunday December 22, 2013. In its update, the NDRRMC said 27,665 individuals are injured, while 1,779 are still missing. Over three million families were affected by the super typhoon, and 890,895 families were displaced. Nearly 21,000 families, or 101,527 individuals are still staying at evacuation centers and the total cost of damages has been estimated at
P36,622,812,497.27.
