Typhoon Pablo

Typhoon Pablo

On 4 December 2012, typhoon Bopha, locally known as typhoon Pablo ripped through the southern island of Mindanao in the Philippines. It was the first typhoon for the agricultural provinces of Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley, leaving them ill-prepared for the devastation left by flash floods and heavy winds. One month after the storm, hundreds of thousands of residents dependent on aid struggle to rebuild, with livelihood at a standstill after plantations were decimated. The national government has put the total death toll from Pablo at 1,067 bodies, with over 800 still missing.
