Nazareno

The Feast of the Black Nazarene is an annual religious event that is held in Manila every January 9th each year. Hundreds of thousands of barefoot devotees flock to the streets of Manila as the centuries old black statue of Jesus Christ is paraded in a procession that moves through a vast sea of devotees. The wooden, life-sized Black Nazarene, carved in Mexico and brought to the Philippines in the early 17th century, is thought to healing powers and has drawn enormous crowds making it the largest parade in the predominately Roman Catholic country.
