Lucia and Giulia, daughters of my good friend Dindo Martinez used some photos I took from typhoon Pablo so they could sell cookies they made themselves and donate the proceeds for the benefit of the Pablo victims. Call me shallow or loco but I really found this to be more fulfilling than getting on the front page of any newspaper or magazine in the world.

It may look pretty, but what these birds had to go through is something that is definitely not. They were caught, painted and caged for the purposes of “Palipad” a Chinese New Year tradition here that is meant to give the person a sense of “setting something free” which is totally contradictory since it encourages the sellers to catch and sell more birds @carlaangeline @peta
